AAdi's Hospice Services
Our hospice care team is dedicated to providing a wide range of services tailored to address the specific needs of patients and their families during all aspects of the end-of-life journey. Click on the buttons below for a description of each service.

Hospice Physician
Our hospice physicians oversee the medical aspects of hospice care, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of symptom management and medical support. They work closely with the care team to tailor treatment plans to each patient’s needs.
AAdi’s physician medical directors differentiate themselves from medical directors at other hospices by focusing soley on AAdi’s patients. They will conduct initial evaluations and recertifications in person.

Dr. Delia Quisenberry, Hospice Medical Director
Dr. Quisenberry is an Internal Medicine board-certified clinician with 23 years of experience in private practice, hospital medicine, skilled nursing facilities, and hospice and palliative care. Since 2007, she has served as a hospice medical director in addition to her full-time private practice and chief hospitalist obligations. Dr. Quisenberry has served on the Board of Trustees for Corpus Christi Medical Center since 2016.
Certifications: Alzheimer’s Association in Dementia-Related Behavior and Dementia Advanced Care.

Dr. Andrew Hinojosa, Hospice Medical Director
Dr. Andrew Hinojosa is a family medicine doctor in Corpus Christi, Texas. He received his medical degree from Texas AM Health Science Center College of Medicine and has practiced family medicine for 11 years with expertise in hospice and palliative care. Dr. Andrew Hinojosa has expertise in treating diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and hypertension, among other conditions.
Certifications: Certified in Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine

Skilled Nursing
Our skilled nurses provide expert and compassionate medical care focused on managing pain and symptoms, ensuring comfort and dignity for hospice patients. AAdi’s Hospice Skilled Nurses are available 24/7 to address any urgent needs and support the patient and family through every stage of care. Examples of skilled nursing activities include:
- Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) support with specialized training for compassionate hospice care
- Coordinates the POC (plan of care) with the Hospice team
- Administration of medications for pain management & symptoms
- Wound care management
- Feeding assistance and education
- Catheter care
- Complication and infection prevention
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) support

Hospice Aides
Hospice aides offer compassionate assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming. Their support helps maintain the patient’s comfort and dignity, allowing families to focus on spending quality time with their loved ones. Examples of hospice aide services include:
- Bathing and showering assistance
- Dressing assistance
- Personal grooming assistance, including hair, skin and nails
- Assistance with oral hygiene and dental care
- Toileting and incontinence care

Medical Social Workers
Our medical social workers provide emotional support and practical assistance, helping patients and families navigate the complexities of hospice care. They connect families with community resources and assist with long-term planning and decision-making. Examples of activities include:
- Coordination with AAdi Hospice Care team for integrated, holistic support
- Advocates for the patient and family regarding community resources
- Helps identify eligibility for external services and benefits
- Supports patient and family in planning and decision-making
- Assists in coordinating transportation and meal services where available
- Provides immediate and compassionate support and counseling to the patient and family during crisis periods

Chaplain
AAdi provides holistic, non-denominational spiritual support and counseling to address the emotional and spiritual needs of hospice patients and their families. Our Chaplains provide comfort and guidance, helping patients and their families find peace and meaning during this difficult time. Examples of services to support hospice patients and families include:
- Coordinate spiritual guidance with the patient’s personal clergy when desired
- Emotional support to help patients and families cope with challenges and find peace
- Assist with difficult conversations and decisions regarding end-of-life wishes, helping ensure the patient’s desires are honored
- Facilitates conversations and activities enabling patients to reflect on their lives, share stories and leave a lasting legacy for their families
- Support families through the grieving process, both before and after the loss

Trained Volunteers
Our dedicated volunteers offer companionship and additional support, bringing comfort and joy to hospice patients and their families. They provide a caring presence, assist with daily activities, and offer respite for caregivers. Examples of hospice volunteer activities include:
- Being a comforting and supportive presence
- Encouraging and listening to a patient’s life stories
- Journaling patient memories and wishes or thoughts for loved ones
- Playing music and games and enjoying the patient’s hobbies with them
- Reading the patient’s favorite books
- Watching the patient’s favorite TV shows or movies

Medical Equipment
At AAdi Home Health & Hospice, we understand that access to the right supplies and medical equipment is crucial for the comfort and care of our hospice patients. We provide comprehensive support to ensure you have everything needed to manage symptoms and maintain quality of life at home. AAdi services include:
- Coordination of all aspects of ordering, delivery, and setup of medical equipment and supplies
- Education and instructions for family members on use and maintenance to ensure safety
- Available to address questions or concerns related to medical equipment and supplies, including operation and reordering of supplies

Medications for Terminal
Diagnosis
Medications related to the terminal diagnosis are covered by the hospice benefit, as long as they are within our hospice formulary.

Respite Services
Respite services offer temporary relief for primary caregivers, allowing them to rest and recharge. Our skilled team provides care for hospice patients during this time, ensuring continuity of care and peace of mind for caregivers. Examples of assistance provided with respite services include:
- Assist with the selection of an appropriate respite facility while the caregiver rests and recharges
- All routine hospice services continue throughout the respite stay
- Transportation to and from respite facility
- Respite expenses are covered under most hospice benefit plans

Therapies
Therapy for hospice patients focuses on patient and family education to maintain their quality of life. These services help manage symptoms, maintain mobility, and enhance communication, providing comfort and supporting the patient's overall well-being during hospice care.
- Physical therapies help patients and caregivers maintain movement while minimizing risks due to falls or physical mobility injuries
- Speech therapies help patients and caregivers with communication and swallowing issues to minimize communication difficulties and maintain independence
- Occupational therapies help patients and caregivers maintain a patient’s independence and dignity with practical support and strategies for daily activities

Palliative Care
Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with serious illnesses. It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of the illness with the goal of improving the quality of life for both the patient and their family. Unlike hospice care, which is typically reserved for those nearing the end of life, palliative care can be appropriate for patients at any age and at any stage of a serious or chronic illness. Palliative Care can be provided alongside curative treatment plans for home health patients, ensuring comprehensive support.

Bereavement Services
AAdi Hospice provides comprehensive bereavement services to support families after the loss of a loved one. Our team offers resources to help families navigate the grieving process with compassion and understanding. Examples of AAdi bereavement services include:
- Services provided by chaplains, social workers, and volunteers
- Personal visits to support family members through encouragement, prayer, remembrance discussions, and grief counseling
- Support with funeral and memorial service planning
- Follow-up and check-in calls with family members to support their personal grief journey and questions
- Letters of encouragement and support mailed throughout the bereavement period
- Connection to grief support and recovery groups
- Continued bereavement support for thirteen months

Who Pays for Hospice?
Hospice care is typically covered through the Medicare Hospice Benefit and Medicaid Hospice Benefit. The Medicare Hospice Benefit, included under Medicare Part A (hospital insurance), provides beneficiaries with comprehensive non-curative medical and support services to enhance their quality of life. Additionally, many private insurance plans include hospice coverage.
